For the upcoming Thomas Uber Cup, the India camp at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad looks quite uncertain with Sports Authority of India insisting a mandatory 10-day quarantine period is non-negotiable.

With eight days (September 17) to the deadline, the compulsory SOPs cannot be enforced, which means the squad for the championship will be picked without the selectors watching players at training.

Olympic silver medalist and world champion PV Sindhu trained along with Sikki Reddy, hinting at possible fielding of the former in the second doubles. Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal too joined the camp, a few days ago.

Owing to the quarantine mess, top shuttlers informed the authorities through a video conference that they were unwilling to reside at the academy.

For the October 3-11 tournament, the last date to send entries is September 18.
