Bengaluru, November 15: Saketh Myneni, a wild card entrant disposed off defending champion Sumit Nagal’s challenge in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the USD 150,000 Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger at the KSLTA here on Thursday.
Joining him was fourth seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran who did not have to break a sweat as his hard working opponent Sasi Kumar Mukund had to withdraw owing to a severe back pain.
Saketh will clash with Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan who was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Frederico Ferreira Silva of Portugal in the first semifinal while Prajnesh will meet Canadian Brayden Schnur in the other semifinal. Schnur defeated Cem Ilkel of Turkey 6-3, 6-4.
Meanwhile, the second seeded Indo-Croatian pair of Purav Raja and Antonio Sancic were stretched by the Indian pair of Arjun Kadhe and Saketh Myneni before prevailing 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. The duo will meet the Australian pair of Max Purcell and Luke Seville in the final.
