Bengaluru, October 25: It was a day when the favourites made hay as all the top four seeds stormed into the semifinals of the Bengaluru Open Wild Card AITA ranking tennis tournament being played at the KSLTA here on Thursday.
Local lad and top seed Suraj Prabodh led the way eliminating sixth seed Yugal Bansal of Delhi 6-3, 6-1 while second seed Dalwinder Singh of Punjab quelled the challenge of Arjun Honnappa 6-3, 6-4. In the other quarterfinal ties, third seed Prajwal SD Dev of Karnataka defeated Sahil Gaware of Maharashtra 6-3, 6-2 while fourth seed Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash of Tamil Nadu overcame seventh seed Paramveer Singh Bajwa 7-6 (5), 6-3.
“It will not be easy as there are still some good players left like Mohit and Dalvinder,” said the 23-year-old after his quarterfinal victory. “Although I was hopeful of getting a wild card entry like last year, I needed some match practice,” he added.
