Bengaluru, April 12: The Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed up South Africa speedster Dale Steyn as the replacement for the injured Nathan Coulter-Nile.
The Aussie pacer complained with a back niggle and decided to pull out of the Indian Premier League 12.
The 35-year-old quick who went unsold at the auctions, will now play after a two-year hiatus. He last represented Gujarat Lions in 2016.
Steyn, a former RCB star, played in the maiden season 11 years ago and remained in the squad till 2010, picking up 27 wickets from 28 matches.
With RCB struggling with their bowling department, Steyn will have a hard task in reviving their fortunes for the rest of the season.
According to the team management, Steyn will only be available from April 16, which means he will miss RCB’s next two games – against Kings XI Punjab on April 13 and Mumbai Indians on April 15.
