Football: Former KSFA, KOA vice-president Mohanraj no more

Former Vice-president of the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) and Karnataka Olympic Association M. Mohanraj passed away on Sunday evening due to age-related illness. He was 89.

During his heydays as a football player, Mohanraj represented Karnataka, University and college teams.

As a sports administrator, Mohanraj also worked with the All India Football Federation and Bangalore District Football Association. He served as the manager for the Karnataka team from 1978 to 1985.

His stint as a manager includes the pre-Olympic Indian team at Bangkok in 1999 and also the pre-World Cup qualifiers in Darussalam, 2001. In 1982, he was nominated as the technical member of the Asian Games held at Delhi and was also the organizing secretary for the pre-World Cup qualifying round held in Bengaluru in the summer of 2001.

He was also instrumental in setting up the Karnataka Soccer Welfare Trust and was on its board as

Treasurer.

The KSFA and its members condoled his passing.
