Jaipur, April 12: After recording a thrilling last-ball victory against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday night, MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, was fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Royals here.
There was a lot of confusion over a no-ball in the 20th over. English all-rounder Ben Stokes bowled a high full toss and the umpire signaled a no-ball, Bruce Oxenford at square-leg signaled it as a legal delivery.
On-field batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner quickly got into an argument with the umpires while Dhoni charged onto the field and got involved in a heated argument with the match officials.
Kiwi batsman Santner smashed the last ball for a six to secure a victory while Dhoni was named man-of-the-match for his fighting fifty.
Later, Dhoni admitted to the Level 2 offence 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.
