Bengaluru, June 29: The KSCA Group I- Division I Cricket League 2019 turned into a thriller during the concluding stages with Social Cricketers (30 points) edging out Swastic Union Cricket Club (1) (29) and Swastic Union Cricket Club (2) (28 points) to win the title, here.
Opening batsman R. Samarth of SUCC (1) smashed four tons and two fifties to top the scoring charts with 901 runs at an average of 128.71 followed by Nischal D of Jawahar Sports Club (1) (738 runs) while Samarth’s batting partner Abhishek Reddy (729 runs) was third.
Overall, the recently-concluded 12-team championship witnessed 57 centuries.
Among the bowlers, Bangalore United Cricket Club (1) player Pranav Bhatia bagged 43 wickets to take home the best bowler while Social Cricketers’ Prithviraj grabbed 37 while left-arm spinner Anand Doddamani of Mount Joy CC finished third with 33.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s T20 specialist opener Rohan Kadam of Jawans CC, who slipped to the second tier of the league this year, recorded the highest individual score 256. Apart from the left-hander Kadam and Samarth, Abhishek Reddy, Sharath Srinivas (BUCC) and Abhinav Manohar (Cambridge) also smashed double hundreds.
Samarth and Mohammed Saif (Rajajinagar Cricketers) hammered four centuries each while Nishant Singh Shekhawat (Cambridge) and Nischal, scored three centuries each.
Vultures’ all-rounder Praveen Dubey scripted a record scoring a 51-ball 100 against Jawans.
From the top flight league, Jawans and Jawahar Sports Club (1) were relegated to the second division after garnering 13 and 15 points respectively.
