Galle, September 13: India Women continued their winning run defeating Sri Lanka Women by seven runs in the second WODI of the ICC Women’s Championship here on Thursday. With this victory, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Fifties from Mithali Raj (52) and Taniya Bhatia (68) helped the visitors post 219. Chamari Atapattu (3/42) was the pick among the bowlers while KDU Prabodhani (2/45) and SS Weerakkody (2/36) shared two wickets each.
In reply, Sri Lanka Women were bundled out for 212 with 11 balls to spare. After a good show with the ball, Chamari Atapattu came up with a brilliant 57 while HASD Siriwardene made 49. For the winners, Mansi Joshi and Rajeshwari Gayakwad grabbed two wickets apiece.
