Mysuru, November 28: Karnataka bowlers struck collectively on a seaming surface in Mysuru to put their side in command against Maharashtra on the opening day of the third Elite Group A Ranji Trophy game here on Wednesday.
Winning the toss and electing bat, Maharashtra captain Rahul Tripathi’s decision backfired completely as his side crashed to a paltry 113. Maharashtra recorded three ducks while only four touched double figures. The wrecker-in-chief was the local lad and left-arm J. Suchith, who spun a web around the visitor batsmen to claim a four-wicket haul. But the pacer troika of R. Vinay Kumar, Abhimanyu Mithun and Ronit More shared two wickets apiece to wrap up the top-order.
In reply, Karnataka were chugging at a run-rate of 1.75 with the scorecard on 70/3 at close of play. D. Nischal was in the middle on 32 while Suchith (8 batting) walked in as the night-watchman before KV Siddharth departed three overs before close.
Karnataka are just 43 runs behind with seven wickets in hand.
