Nagpur, November 14: Karnataka opener Nischal Dega and debutant Sharath BR continued their fine run scoring centuries each that put their side in a commanding position against defending champions Vidarbha on the third day of the Ranji Trophy encounter, here on Wednesday.
Karnataka on overnight 208/5, managed to post 378 to take a 71-run lead against the hosts. The lanky right hander Nischal on 66 overnight, scored his second century of his first-class career with a patient 338-ball 113 that included 10 boundaries. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Sharath, who was unbeaten on 46, made his Ranji Trophy debut memorable with a 161-ball 103 (20×4).
For the sixth wicket, the duo stitched a 160-run partnership help Karnataka take lead.
Vidarbha bowlers toiled hard with Aditya Sarwate taking a five-wicket haul while Akshay Wakhare and Sanjay Ramaswamy sharing two wickets apiece.
In the second essay, Vidarbha were 72/2 at close with Wasim Jaffer (21 batting) and Ganesh Satish (24 batting) in the middle.
