Bengaluru, January 18: Karnataka showcased their batting prowess on a difficult pitch as skipper Manish Pandey and Karun Nair slammed unbeaten fifties each in their six-wicket win against Rajasthan to storm into the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy here on Friday.
With 139 runs required on the fourth day in the last eight clash, Karnataka on 45/3 overnight, cruised to the target with Karun (61 not out, 129b, 6×4) and Pandey (87 not out, 75b, 14×4, 2×6) adding an unconquered 129 off 147 balls for the fifth wicket.
In the chase on the penultimate day, Rajasthan were lucky to get the wicket of night watchman Ronit More off a no-ball because of lack of conclusive evidence. Later, the visitors will also rue for dropping Pandey at 38 – which could’ve have given them the edge.
Karnataka will now face the winner of the Uttar Pradesh-Saurashtra encounter starting from January 24.
