Bengaluru, February 11: Nash Cricketers emerged winners of the State level tennis ball tournament for the Kengal Cup organised by Kengal Hanumanthiah Memorial Trust bagging a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Jai Karnataka finished second place and bagged a cash prize of Rs 50,000, and Achievers Team of Hebbal were third.
As many as 16 teams participated in the 8 overs limited tournament played at the Malleshwaram Grounds in Bangalore on February 9 and 10. The tournament was held in memory of late Kengal Hanumanthaiah, the first elected Chief Minister of the State, who was instrumental in building Vidhana Soudha.
The prizes were distributed by former cricketer Dodda Ganesh. “Participating is more important than winning. The game should be played with a sporting spirit”, he said.
