Bengaluru, September 26: A fine century by R. Samarth (Ravikumar Samarth 102, 125b 8×4) went in vain as Karnataka’s dismal show continued in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, going down to Baroda by seven wickets (VJD method) at the Just Cricket Academy Ground here on Wednesday.

This was their third loss in four games with one game against Goa washed out due to wet outfield. Karnataka are yet to open their account on the points table.

Electing to bowl first, Baroda bowled out the hosts for 237. Medium pacer Atit Shet led the bowling attack taking four wickets while left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya and B. Pathan took two wickets a piece.

The star-studded batting line-up failed to fire with Mayank Agarwal (34), Karun Nair (37) and Krishnappa Gowtham (28) coming up with small contributions.

In reply, Baroda cruised home comfortably with opener Kedar Devdhar (123, 128b, 11×4, 2×6) leading from the front while skipper Deepak Hooda scoring a handy 62 in the chase before rain halted play.

Brief scores: Karnataka: 237 all out in 50 overs (Ravikumar Samarth 102, Mayank Agarwal 34, Karun Nair 37, Krishnappa Gowtham 28, Atit Sheth 4/42, Krunal Pandya 2/50, B. Pathan 2/38) lost to Baroda: 230/3 in 43.3 overs (Kedar Devdhar 123, Deepak Hooda 62) by 7 wickets (VJD method)
