Bengaluru, October 1: Sanath Naik, a young cricketer who played U-16 and U-19 Zonals, passed away on Sunday night after a year-long fight with cancer.
Sanath, who turned 21 on September 6, was diagnosed with a brain tumor last February and underwent a surgery immediately.
The 18-year-old student of Jain College, a genuine all-rounder, won the U-14 Best Bowler Award in the inter-school cricket tournament while representing St. Joseph’s Indian High School in 2012.
His former coaches remember him one among the fittest players.
In the KSCA league, Sanath, a left-handed batsman, and leg-spinner played for Friends Union Cricket Club (2).
