Bengaluru: Team India have named Mumbai’s 18-year-old young batsman Prithvi Shaw in the squad for the 4th and 5th Tests matches against England.
Prithvi Shaw replaces veteran opener Murali Vijay while Andhra’s middle order batsman Hanuma Vihari, comes in for left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Murali Vijay opened in Edgbaston and Lord’s test, while Kuldeep Yadav played in the second Test.
India beat England by 203 runs in the 3rd test at Trent Bridge on Wednesday to cut England’s lead in the five-match series to 2-1. The fourth Test in Southampton starts on 30 August. The fifth Test at the Oval starts on 7 September.
Right hander Prithvi Shaw has made seven centuries in his 14 first-class matches and captained India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup this year. He hit 188 for India A against West Indies A in a four-day game in July, having also scored one-day hundreds against West Indies A and Leicestershire.
